Customer Reviews

Kept it fresh - also falls off somewhat easilyIt kept sparkling wine fresh a day after opening. The one negative is that there is nothing that really secures the top to the bottle, so a bump can easily knock the top off - especially if there is a lot of pressure in the bottle (which is what you want to keep the bubbles fresh). This could probably be solved with a rubber band around the hinges, but we haven't needed to try that yet.4Unique product at a great priceI purchased these stoppers because of an early party where sparkling wine was going to be the prevalent drink. I was concerned that multiple bottles of sparkling wine would be opened, and I did not want the bottles to be wasted. The tops worked well. Easy to install, fit in the refrigerator standing up, and no issues with the sparkling wine. The 2 leftover bottles were consumed within 36 hours, with no issues. Very pleased with the purchase.5Works great on the right bottlesThis champagne stopper works great on the right bottles and preserves the carbonation really well.First off, how it works... the rubber sealer in the center is spring loaded. You place it on the bottle, press down firmly and compress the rubber sealer roughly a quarter of an inch and then pull the wings of it together to clasp that ring/lip below the mouth of the champagne bottle. If the underside of that ring/lip on the champagne bottle is beveled too much, it won't stay on. If it's flat, it stays on surprisingly well.I've only used it on two different bottles of champagne. On one it worked perfectly and on the other it had too much of a bevel on the underside of the champagne ring so I just wrapped a rubber band around it to keep the clasps hooked on. I don't think the rubber band is that big of a deal and am more than happy with this purchase. It pays for itself after the first use.I deducted one star because it could work on more bottles if the wings/clasps of it were also spring loaded (wouldn't need a rubber band on some bottles).4Really does work! Great with a sparkling bottle as a gift. These stoppers are fantastic! They are great for saving Cava, Prosecco, Champagne, and other sparking beverages. I have used my earliest buy for about 4 years and have sent these as hostess gifts with a bottle. The stoppers still look like new. Sparkling beverage last all week and are still bubbly.I had tried numerous other champagne keepers prior to this. These are by far the best I have ever tried.5Keeps that bottle freshI had one of these for quite a while. My wife started drinking sparkling wine and she started using this stopper. Of course since she was using it, I couldn't use the stopper on my larger beer bottles. So I searched out the exact model that I already had. It works great to keep a carbonated beverage fresh. It works great on wine bottles. But a beer bottle tends to have a smaller lip around the top. The wings on this stopper sometimes slip off. I've started putting a rubber band around the wings of the stopper to keep it firmly attached. But this is no fault of the stopper.5Mimosas for DAYS This little guy is great! I love having a mimosa every few days, but the quality prosecco or actual champagne is expensive and only available in full size bottles. This little pressurized stopper keeps the bubbles in and your mimosas delicious. I saw just people saying it didn't work, I didn't have any problem as long as the little wings were hooked under the lip. I attached pictures to show the correct fit. 5Excellent stopper for the bottles it fits. This stopper was made for champagne bottles and possibly other bottles with contents under pressure of CO2. Champagne bottles have certain features to the shape of the neck and tip of the bottle. There is a ridge beneath the lip of the opening from which its original cap can be wired on with a grip that won't fail. This stopper exploits that little ridge. The wings on the sides have a groove or ledge (visible in the picture). When closed down over the outside of the bottle's "head," that curved edge will grip the ridge beneath the "head," making a positive clamp that won't come off until you want it to.Inside the cap of the stopper is a silicon rubber seal with a big spring behind it. Push down on the stopper and the seal covers the top of the bottle (it doesn't go down inside it like a Zyliss-type stopper). The spring provides the pressure to keep the seal tight on the bottle, but the whole thing depends on those wings clasping the head of the bottle to keep the cap clamped down tight, and so, the spring transfers the force to the silicon rubber seal which holds in the gas.If the bottles were under very high pressure, the gas would push the cap, which would rise against the spring and release the pressure until the spring could overcome the pressure of the diminished gas, and would hold it down again. But the pressures of champagne and bubbly wine drinks are not sufficient to raise the cap. It takes a bit of force on your part to hold down this device, but the wings fall in place naturally, so it goes on quickly and easily; it just needs the initial push to get it down in place.Very well-engineered stopper, and one you can buy with certainty that it works, but with one caveat: it fits most champagne bottles, but some say it doesn't fit them all. I haven't seen those it doesn't fit.Do NOT buy it for: wine bottles, beer bottles, coke bottles, etc. There are better stoppers for these. The thing is, this stopper just might work on many of your wine bottles, coke bottles, etc., but you can't be sure without trying it. The key: if the bottle has a flat ridge encircling the top underneath the pour spout, and if that ridge is pretty straight, without chamfers and rounded edges, then this stopper may be able to clasp it.Tip: to use this stopper on most bottles of the type being discussed, just put a rubber band around the wings so that they can hold on better to the ridge under the lip of the bottle. But on the bottles for which it was intended, no extra tricks are necessary. It will hold tight until you remove it.Shooshie4Trifecta: function, price, value These are exactly what I was looking for - the stopper is rubber and gives a great seal, the construction is solid (not cheap like others we've tried), and the price is right too - the trifecta! Many made their way into stockings this year :-) 5Wow!I m 61 and it takes me all of two seconds to place this on a champagne bottle. We sealed our champagne bottle after midnight on the 1st. I opened the bottle again today (Jan 4) and everyone was shocked at how much carbonation was present! When I removed the top (also very easy) there was a huge pop!I m very impressed with this product.5An extremely elegant solutionOn the rare occasion that the two of us can't finish a bottle of sparkling wine, this bottle stopper/saver comes to the rescue, providing an elegant solution to an unfortunate problem. The first thing I noticed about the product is how attractive and well-made it looks. The device is made up of a "cap" with two side flaps, each of which is connected to the cap with hinges. If you turn the device over, you see a stopper inside the cap; this stopper is spring-loaded, and when pressure is applied, the stopper goes up into the cap. To use it, you place the device on an open sparkling wine bottle and press down. The top of the bottle gets swallowed by the device as the springs press the stopper against the bottle opening, sealing it with the spring-loaded pressure. To lock it into place, you simply fold down the hinge-mounted flaps, which lock onto the lower lip of the sparkling wine bottle. So simple, yet so ingenious!I've had nothing but positive results when using this device. As described in the name of this product, this is designed to preserve **sparkling wine**, so obviously it won't work (at least not well) on regular wine, soda bottles, or anything else that isn't shaped like a sparkling wine bottle. I've tried it on about 6 different bottles so far (including Cava, Prosecco, and American sparkling wines), and it has fit and worked perfectly on all of them. If you have a bottle of sparkling wine that is dramatically different from the traditional sparkling wine bottle shape, there's a good chance this won't work. Remember that this stopper works based on the shape of the bottle, not the fact that it's sparkling wine. The longest I've left this on an open bottle has been 5 days. As soon as I poured the first glasses from the new bottle, I sealed it with this and refrigerated the bottle. After 5 days of storage, the sparkling wine was pretty darn close to when it was opened, though obviously a little less effervescent. I can't report on how well this may store sparkling wines after 5 days, but you really shouldn't be storing it any longer than that. Remember that this product helps keep the wine from going "flat," but it doesn't do anything to slow down oxidation, the process that begins breaking down the taste and quality of wine as soon as it's opened. So think of this as an extension of a few days, not a long-term solution, and drink your leftover wine while it's still at its peak, no longer than 3-5 days!5CHANPAGNE bottle stopper not for wine.I guess I did not read the description carefully enough. This is a champagne bottle stopper, not a wine bottle stopper. I was looking for a stopper to keep my wine drinkable for a couple of days, this is not it. While it might work on a champagne bottle It does not work on my wine bottles. By the time I found this out I could not return it. Check to see if it work right away. like now!2Must buy for champagne lovers and single-glass wine drinkersIf you've never tried these before, they will revolutionize the way you drink - now I always keep a bottle of champagne open for "just a glass." Fits 95% of the bottles I've tried and keeps it fresh for a week or two - you can even store it back in the wine cooler on its side. Every time you open it it loses a bit of sparkle, but not much, and it's almost as fresh for glass 4 as it was for the first glass! (Champagne, cava and sparkling rose don't seem to oxidize like regular wine does). For those it doesn't work for, remember that just like a coke, moving/jostling it after its been opened it going to kill the carbonation, whether or not it's well-sealed. The same goes for multiple openings. If you're transporting, carry it by hand rather than putting it in a bag (it's also suuuper easy to accidentally dislodge the top if the bottle is in something), and you'll get 4+ reopening from it.5Excellent, with a little caution I actually can't believe how well these things work. We've tried them on three different bottles so far and they've held pressure on every one. It's so easy to slip them on and they just work. The one caution I have is that when you're taking them off, they can come up a little too easily. I almost had one fly across the room as I touched it. So just be careful when removing them or even when moving the bottles around, and you shouldn't have a problem. 5
