    Defective materialThese wires last one or two times before breaking or untwisting. I have tried retwisting the wires but they untwist again. The twists need some binding agent to stop them from untwisting so easily.This may work on really soft cheese, I love cheddar which is easily cut, but these wires don't seem able to 'cut the cheese'.....I am afraid that I will have to abandon the cutter entirely. 1Note the size when ordering.I unfortunately ordered replacement cheese slicer wires that were too long for my slicer. I was, however, able to unwind and rewind one end so they now work well. The wire quality is good and the slicer now works great again but be careful to order the right length for your slicer so rewinding is unnecessary. 5perfect fitthanks for providing this replacement wire. everyone, please be sure to read the fine print to make certain you are ordering the exact replacement size needed for your cheese slicer. these are a perfect fit. thanks! 5Universal replacementsDesigned to fit every cheese cutter I've known that sits in a counter.Replace the old one and put the remaining wires in the back of a drawer since you likely won't need them for years.Use these or else take a string from your son's electric guitar. Go ahead. He can't play anyway. 5Great replacement product.The cheese slicer we got at Christmas seemed to have cheapo wires. It came with 3 replacement wires plus the original. They were all broken within 6 months.These replacement wires have a different "feel" to them. Haven't broken any yet. Too soon to say with guarantee that they're 5-star durable, but it wouldn't be fair to say they're not either. So far I'm happy, and it was a cheap investment to give these a try! 5They work, install easily, and are an exact fit.These are exact fit for my marble cheese slicer. Measure yours and make sure it is the size required in the text of this product description. When you install, be sure to tighten the handle as tightly as you can so it doesn't rotate on the metal U-shaped hinge arm and loosen the wire. Also, make sure the wire goes around the top of the circle "pully" so the wire is tightened as you press down on the handle. One adjustment I had to make was to slightly re-shape the U-shaped hinge arm so the wire was tight and the hinge didn't scrape the edge of the marble base. This was simple to do by pressing it against my kitchen sink. Don't overdo it; it will yield but make small adjustments. I was sure I could fix my slicer by "simply" getting some stainless wire, but that was more expensive than these replacements, and it would have required monkeying to make the loop ends. 5Glad I found these replacements!I have the Fox Run Brand White Marble Cheese Slicer which is 8x5" and these replacement wires fit perfectly! Note you do have some leeway to twist the handle to tighten the wire, so I imagine this could work for a slicer perhaps 4.75" - 5.25" across. 5Low quality which CANNOT BE RETURNED!!First of all, it appears that the item I received has already been used as it is apparent where labels had been on it and the residue of glue remains. Secondly, the wire does not align with the etched "slot" in the marble through which it must pass in order to slice properly, resulting in having to use a knife (although I never got that far because I had intended to return it). Lastly, I have come to find out that this item CANNOT be returned - no wonder, no one would want this junk. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, PARTICULARLY SINCE AMAZON'S POLICY IS TO NOT ACCEPT A RETURN ON THIS ITEM!!! 1Make sure you k own about the wire ends.I use my little cheese slicer a lot and it the perfect replacement wire for my slicer. 5Don't toss your marble cheese slicer...replacement wires are available!We inherited our marble cheese slicer and fell in love with it. It came with a spare wire taped to the bottom, which extended its life by a year and then broke. We had no idea who made the slicer, but a search on Amazon brought the item right up along with confirming mugshots...and wire replacements were available! Can't say much about the design asthetics, but these replacements gave new life to our favorite cheese cutter. What more can I say! 4
