    like an extension of your own hand in the kitchen I have tongs in 9, 12 and 16 inches, with both metal and nylon heads. For every thing but the grill and the heaviest oven-roasted foods, I find myself most often reaching for the two 9 inch pairs that I have. They make moving food around in a pan extremely easy--working almost like an extension of your own hand. The shortness of the blades means the wrist movement necessary for grabbing, turning, and moving foods most resembles what you would do if you had asbestos fingers and could just reach in the pan to move things around yourself. These are perfect for snagging a single strand of pasta out of a pot of boiling water for testing, turning everything from delicate shrimp to hefty ribeyes, and distributing hot foods precisely on a plate for great presentation. 5The best kitchen tongs for spaghetti or roasting veggies or flipping steaks. I cook a lot & like to use tools that do their job without breaking or falling apart in the middle of making a meal. That's why I trust OXO products, they're well made & stand up to the test of time. These tongs are another great product with extra features to make cooking easier. I've had these 8 years & they work just as good as when I purchased them. The silicone handles help you maintain your grip even when they get damp from steam coming up out of the pot. The ends are coated with silicone so they don't scratch your pans and are heat resistant. They are 12" long so I can use them to reach into the hot oven & move food around in the baking dish without getting burnt. And I love the push button on the end which keeps the tongs closed so they don't spring open & splatter food everywhere. If my hands are full I've been known to push or pull the silicone coated button with my teeth or against my chin-not a good idea I know but sometimes you need 3 hands to cook! What I really need is my own personal prep chef...does Amazon offer those? 5Best tongs out there I have these exact tongs that I have been using almost daily for approximately 6 years now, they still work great, the little middle piece that keeps them closed still works. The only reason I am buying another pair is to have an extra one to use when we have company over and need extra tongs for platters, the grill, etc. My chef brother-in-law swears by these tongs and I completely agree, they grip everything from filets, to thinly sliced meat, to green beans perfectly. 5Don't wait, buy these Purchased these 13-1/2 yrs. ago, still My go to tongs. I've had other tongs in the meantime (because i wanted red ones) that were weak and couldn't even pick up an ear of corn! These can literally pick up a brick with no trouble. Very strong and as good today as they were in 2005. If You want a great pair of tongs, look no further. 5Great tongs! They open with one push on the lock, which I tend to do against my belly or a counter when I'm cooking. I do wish there was a one-handed way to engage the lock as well, but overall, a very sturdy product I'm happy with. These are nice long tongs for frying and the coating on them helps protect the coating on my non-stick skillet. 5Liked it so much, bought another I got tired of transferring this from my house to camper trailer each time I took a trip. I looked it up on my previous orders and bought another. It's a great set of tongs, and the perfect length not just for bacon, but I also use them when making fried dough for breaking dough bubbles and flipping the dough. They are holding up well. 5Best tool in my kitchen This bad boy may just be the best tool in my kitchen. With these tongs I can saute, turn, stir, and pluck. The nonstick ends allow you to use it with nonstick pans without fear of scratching and it makes it easier to turn delicate foods like fish. If you are worried about the heat though, OXO also makes a version without the nonstick. The lock on the end is also fantastic. It makes it easy to set the tongs aside or lean them against the side of the pot (watch out for the heat though!).I've actually been using the OXO 9 inch version for years and was so happy with it I decided to buy a second. I bought the 12 inch version not realizing that it was longer, but I'm glad I did! Having the longer tongs makes it easier to work with items that I may want to keep a distance from and to easily reach into deep pots.I have not found better tongs anywhere. They are my go to gadget and would be a valuable addition to any kitchen. 5Great Set of Tongs Lightweight but durable enough for every day use. 12 inch length is the best length to weight ratio... Nothing's worse than trying to pull a chicken out of the roaster and using tongs that are too long (which would require extra clamping strength from your hand) or tongs that are too heavy and you need another tool in the other hand.Make sure people know how to use them though. For some reason people don't understand that the hinge/heel is the lock to open and close the tongs. My sister thought they only opened a teeny bit and didn't even know that they release for like 2 months (haha!). And my boyfriends son thought the hinge twisted for some reason and ruined my first pair. I didn't hesitate and bought another pair that night!Very good tongs, and incredibly priced now too. My first ones were $20 5Long Lasting Effective Tongs These are outstanding tongs. I purchased them 9 years ago and they have not failed me yet.I only wish I had been smart enough to use them the other night when I put chicken into hot oil with my bare hands and received 2nd degree burns from the oil splashing.I will not make that mistake again. I'll always use these awesome tongs.Consider buying these tongs. They may save you from horrifying painful burns, and that's a fact because you just read it on the Internet. 5Relatively short, so make sure you want the 9 inchers and not the next size up. I personally like them, but my GF wishes I had gotten the longer ones - to be fair, if you're working with a lot of oil, these 9-inch tongs leave your hands pretty close to the pan. Hasn't been an issue for me, but it is for her, so if you're someone who likes to keep your distance from a pan go with the next size up. If I were to get the next size up, though, I'd be happy with the same OXO brand ones. 4
