Customer Reviews

Misleading/deceptive advertising, poor instructions, okay chair, warranty leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, the arms are not adjustable to match the seat height as described, they simply tilt up out of the way, other than that there is no adjustment. Second of all, yes the chair tilts back but again, it does not lock in the tilted position(s) as described, it only locks in the full forward position preventing the chair from tilting. Third, as stated by others, the assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired. I had to disassemble the chair to correct my "mistake" where I too put the tilt base on in reverse. After first assembly my chair tilted forward, not back. After second assembly my chair does tilt back and feels a bit more comfortable. The foot ring on the base works okay though it seems a bit on the flimsy side. All in all the height and comfort of the chair are good. It would have been better if the chair functioned and had all the features as advertised.Another big negative is the manufacturers warranty/return policy. They state that there is a 35% restocking fee as well as the customer being responsible for shipping. Even if you decide that you want to return the chair it is cost prohibitive. 3Surprisingly nice! Easy to assemble and feels very sturdy. Feels incredibly sturdy. I have a particularly tall desk, and this is great. I love that the arms can move up or down (not adjustable, just swing up and out of the way). The foot stool can be changed and the amount that the back leans or it's resistance can also be adjusted. Seat is very comfy and large. Never even thought about being uncomfortable once. Some people were saying that they slipped out of the seat because it's at a weird angle, but that's only because they put the seat on backwards. I did that at first, but quickly realized that I needed to switch it around. I will say that the instructions are horrible, but it's simple enough to figure out. There not a lot of pieces and the only slightly confusing piece is what direction the seat goes. It's easy to fix if you get it wrong though. Overall, I'm happy with it and I think it looks really nice. 5Veer away from this chair. The seat cushion is so thick, and the ring around the bottom is so small that I would have to forcibly bend my knees back to reach the foot ring. Massive discomfort. When I sent it back in perfect condition after only two days, Amazon charged me $50 dollars. I paid over $50.00 extra dollars, and I still don't have a chair for my drafting table. I'm 5'4" and even at the lowest height, my legs did not reach the floor. I would have had to either dangle my legs off the seat, or strain my legs to overcome the thickness of the seat cushion and the ridiculously small foot ring. The flip-up arms give this chair a cheap, heavy, ugly look. I hated it, It really soured me on ordering anything else from Amazon. It took me 4 hours to put together and 5 hours plus a lot of stress and sweat to take it back apart and re-pack so I could return it. Beware, too, of the gas piston and the base. Once together, they're almost impossible to take apart. I had to watch two youtube videos to learn how to get them apart. Bad experience.. 1Love the chair Love the chair. Comfortable, rolls around easy, looks nice. I saw one review saying the footrest was unstable. This is not the case for mine. The whole thing feels rigid, and was easy to put together. Very very good deal for the money. 5Beware! The footstool pictured is not what you will get. BEWARE! It's a good chair for the price point. Very frustrated however that the footstool ring pictured is not what comes with the chair. The one that comes with the chair is not as nice and has a much cheaper look. Look at the black frame of the footstool ring. Really, what did they take a picture of if not the actual product that they make. Not cool. 2The quality is good, and it matches the description exactly I was hesitant to purchase this chair after reading some of the reviews. I took a chance, and ordered it anyway, as it was the only chair that fit my desk. I was pleasantly surprised! The quality is good, and it matches the description exactly. No surprises, and a solid, well made chair. I love the way the arms move up, allowing for ease of access, and the ability to adjust my distance to the desk. I have a very high desk, higher than most drafting tables. This chair adjusts to the highest point, while remaining stable and functional. I can be seated for very long periods of time, and this chair is not only comfortable, but ergonomic too. 5Solid chair at a great price. Pieces are heavy- not flimsy weightless junk- ... Solid chair at a great price. Pieces are heavy- not flimsy weightless junk- I was impressed. Especially at this price. Office chairs at many Office Depot stores are very pricey, around $400 and upwards. I wanted a good chair that would not hurt my back, which unfortunately has seen it's hey day come and go. The curved back on this chair works well for my chronic lower back (L5-S1) pain. It hits right above this area on me and I'm 5'6" if this helps. I use this in my craft shed. I can easily raise or lower it between a drafting table and a craft desk. The wheels are such a plus when rotating between 3 different machines. 5So installation was easy. The instructions seem to be missing things Okay so I know a few folks left negative reviews on this because of loose foot rests/etc... I'm not sure if they fixed this or what not but mine does not wobble. But that's where the 1 star gets taken off. So installation was easy. The instructions seem to be missing things. For one, my chair had 4 washers included but that was not on the packing list or instructions. I found out after installing the bolts that hold the base of the chair to the bottom that the bolts would eat into the plastic. So that must be where the washers go. After installing the washers that seemed to work fine. So tip for you folks, put the washers on the bolts that screw into the bottom. 2nd, my chair had a rubber sleeve and some metal piece. I had no idea what it was for until after I installed the chair. First I thought it covered the main column where it is greased... nope. The rubber piece actually gets inserted into the foot piece inner tube. The metal part gets attached to this and that's what the foot rest screws down onto. This makes the foot rest secure... that was not in the instructions so there is another tip for you folks. That made it secure. Another reason this item loses 1 star is there is no plastic sleeve that covers the center post. You see this on almost every chair out there as it protects the center column (which is greased) from debris. I have this in a shop so I imagine over time this will get caked in debris.Otherwise, great chair. I have a working table for shipping and this chair raises to a comfortable height so I can sit at the high desk when I need to. I didn't really need the wheels but hey they come with it so no points lost for that.I'd buy it again, but the instructions need to be updated and they should include a plastic cover for the center post. 4Great Chair, eco price, comfortable! Great for Architecture Students I bought this chair for my architecture studio class and had it for almost a month and so far its a great investment. First off, as a design student, i love the way it looks. Very appropriate for someone who appreciates and deals in design (although i will point out, if you order the white chair like i did, you'll actually receive a gray chair. still very stylish). The arm rest can fold up which is good if you need to scoot up against your drafting desk or whatever desk you use without having the armrest prohibit you from getting closer. Speaking of desks one of the most important features for me is the height of the chair. My desk is about waist high for me (i'm about 6ft even) and drafting chairs ive used before doesn't lift high enough for me to have a comfortable height over my desk. This chair is able to have a comfortable height for most desk (unless you have a really high desk.) and a cool thing i discovered the chair could do is lean back. at first i thought it couldn't because when i tried to lean back the chair would be stiff. No bother but still would have been nice if it could lean back i thought. but if you pull the lever that raises or lowers the chair, it 'unlocks' the chair's shaft and allows it to lean back. and i think the best part about the chair is its price. Very affordable for a college student or anyone on a budget for a chair. I've had colleagues wrongly guess that i spent more than $200 for my chair. This chair however is not all sunshine and roses. although the back is designed to have a ergonomic arch for your back, the seat is a little short. so on a scale of 1 to 5 on the comfort scale i give it a very close 3.5 stars. 4 stars on a good day. but don't get me wrong for what its worth its still quite comfy. The foot ring can be adjusted but its a hassle to adjust the foot ring whenever you adjust your chair height. and lastly if you buy the white chair (which again is actually grey) be prepared to also buy some fabric cleaner or furniture soap because it can start to get a little dirty (especially for those nasty dirt marks and circles.) but i guess thats a risk you take whenever you buy light coloured items.all in all for the money i spent i'm very happy with the chair. It does its job to the last penny. Are there other better more comfy chairs? yes. but if you want great you're gonna have to pay the "great" price. but as far as economic drafting chairs go, i haven't seen or sat in one that beats this one. and again, very very stylish chair. 4Not that comfortable, needed an adjustment After putting this together and rolling it in my office, my butt hit the seat cushion for the first time. It felt funny, stiff like and uncomfortable. Now I've sat in drafting stools before and they always were uncomfortable. Small seats, hard seats, no leaning back with support. But I needed it because I have a desk with monitors adjusted another 6" higher from norm.Immediately I noticed that the round foot pedestal is not big enough in radius. Its pretty much useless if you have the chair at a lower height than at max. What it causes you to do is force your feet back at an odd 130-160 degree angle to find a place to rest your feet. That forces you to slide your butt forward from the edge of the seat. What made matters worse is that the seat cushion is too small. I'm not a big person and when I sit on this, there is a good 4" of space between the back of my knee and the seat. It bleeds for a foot rest that is in front of you. Before I decided to disassemble and send this back for return, I came up with an idea. I happened to have one of those step platforms that you use for fitness and exercise. Placing that under the desk raises my feet a good 4", I now can sit with a better straight alignment in my back, and a 90 degree angle of my legs to the ground. My butt now rests on the back of the seat cushion with the back rest adding comfort. All is good for now. But if I find another more comfortable office chair that lets me adjust the height to at least 25"-30" of the floor, I'm taking it. 4
