Customer Reviews

Great but lights are super bright. We got this light not to use as an alarm, but to stop my 3 year old from getting out of bed before 5:30 a.m. It works wonderfully for that. If he wakes and sees the red light he tries to sleep more and checks again later. My only complaint is how bright the lights are. We keep a thin pair of pajama pants over top of the lights and it still illuminates the entire room. He was used to sleeping in pitch black, and now this is brighter than any nightlight ive ever seen. I cant imagine why you would need to use the yellow light ever if the red one is on. Other than the brightness its very well made and very cute. We got the train and my son loves it. He loves pushing the button to set the alarm every night. :) 4It is perfect for setting a minimal time to wake up time Why didn't I have this as soon as my little man was getting out of bed (at first light)?! It is perfect for setting a minimal time to wake up time. Or should I say, wake everyone in the house time. If he wakes a bit early, he quietly plays until his clock switches to green. He is five now, and use this digital read to compare the analog time. He's getting good at reading all clocks now. 5Piece of junk, not worth $5 It's appalling that this sells for $48. It's not worth $5. It's a complete piece of cheap, plastic junk. Even its basic functions don't work. There's no way to set the alarm. The power plug is loose so you have to jiggle it just to get the power to come on. Like many others have reported, our box had clearly been opened before, likely by some other poor sap who fell for this scam of a product. I'm frustrated that we wasted our time and money, but glad we can get a full refund from Amazon. Save yourself the hassle and don't buy this product. 1Cheaply made/overpriced but concept is a game changer Overall we love this visual alarm clock and it has been a game changer for our 3 year old who doesn't nap anymore/sometimes wakes up too early. We can set it for one hour and she plays or rests quietly in her room until the green light comes on, even though she doesn't nap. She also pays attention to it and waits until it is green to come into our room in the morning without any complaint. Amazing! Only complaint is that it's made out of cheap plastic and for that it's overpriced. I also don't love the available figurines but whatever. 4Every kid is different, but just the chance that this will help yours sleep a little more is worth the money Every kid is different, but this sure did work for mine. If you're like us and have a kid that thinks 4:30 - 5:20am is a great wake up window, buying this stoplight clock is worth a gamble. Our new night time chant is "red stay in bed." It took a couple mornings of, "you aren't supposed to get out of bed until it turns green." And then we had the genius idea of creating a sticker chart with prizes every three days if our 2.5 yo didn't get out of bed until the green light turned on. And darn if he doesn't regularly sleep (or at least stay in bed quietly which is really all I want) until 6am now. It's a xmas miracle in July.Yes, as some of the reviews say, the red light is a little bright, but that just means I could unplug the night light. Yes, it doesn't work for all kids, but hey, if there's a chance it does isn't that worth your sanity as a sleep-deprived parent? Yes, it's not made to the quality standards of Rolex, but it meets the necessary criteria: a red and green light that turn on/off at the right times. One note, our kid likes to play with buttons and found the audible alarm switch in the back. That alarm scared the heck out of the whole family. So do yourself a favor, get a screwdriver and take out the screws in the back. Pull the top apart just enough to get the top to come off. Then pull the little wires out of the back of the speaker. Replace the top and screws, and voila, no more loud alarm your toddler will accidentally turn on. 5Helped the transition to big girl bed AMAZING! We introduced this clock to our daughter right when she turned two, and was still in a crib. She understood the concept right away, but it took a couple of weeks of reminders, consistency and praise before she started to comply. Now, even though she's in a big girl bed, she will sometimes wake up 30-40 minutes before the light turns green, but sit and read books or play with toys until it's 'morning time.' When we turn the red light on at night she knows Elmo says "it's time for bed.' It made the transition to a big girl bed so much easier. My only caution is this: The first day we got it, I plugged it in and set the time. I did not program the alarm or even turn the red light on. However, the alarm (sound) went off loudly at 5:00am. Defiantly not when we planned to get up on a Saturday. The beeping scared her so much we had to put it away for a few days. Make sure you check the sound switch the first time you use it. We always have it switched to off now. 5Disappointing We bought this for our boys so they'd know when it was okay to come out of their room. We loved it at first, but over a couple months it loses time. I don't mean slowly... We have had to reset it at least once a week. I have even put it ahead 5 minutes and within a couple days it's 2-3 minutes behind the actual time. This makes things harder when you're trying to teach kids. With the cost of this, it should work well, but we are disappointed with it falling behind so much. 2My Toddler Loves it! This has really helped our 3-year-old get up at the right time in the morning. He won't get out of bed unless the light is green. We have forgotten to turn it on a few times and he ends up calling us in because he doesn't see the green light. It's cute and easy to use. 5Stopped working immediately Let me first say I have been trying to resolve the issue since purchasing and have had no success. This clock came on time. My son was so excited. We programmed it, left the room, came back a few minutes later and it was dead. We have tried everything we can think of and nothing works. We tried to leave a message for the company that makes it and never a response. We didn't try to return it because we thought for sure the company would make it right. Wrong.I'm surprised that this kind of item (NOT cheap for a clock) doesn't come with better customer service. Such a disappointment. 1I Recommended it but overpriced This purchase was to replace an older one of these that kept resetting all the time. We had that old one about 4 years and my boys love it so I decided to get another of the same model. My boys are 6 and 4 now so it's still helpful. My older guy get the concept of time a bit but in a half-asleep haze the clearness of the red and green lights is helpful, and thankfully they share a room. For a bit they both completely ignored the light but recently they are trying their best to watch it, so I freaked when the old one broke. My only big issue with this clock is the price for something that's relatively cheap. The reviews when I bought this (from diapers.com which is gone now) were 50/50 with people getting products with the car damaged. Our first one was perfect. This one came damaged but nothing some superglue can't fix. To not have to hassle with a return I'm fine with gluing it. I still recommend this clock to people. For a while I had this set where the grownups wanted it, 7am. It wasnt a teachable goal for the kids so I set it for 6:30 now and they literally wait for it to change and you hear their door open. So I wish it was lower cost, and you might get a damaged one too, but with how effective it is I cant complain. The traffic light theme is the best. We know people with the lamb that opens and closes its eye and my boys asked for this again. 4
