Customer Reviews

DO NOT BUY!!!DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I just used it 2-3 times but I just realized it got immediately rusty! I am so disappointed! I am returning this..please see the picture..1A very good basic grater. There are 9000 kinds of graters out there.... and I had an old one that finally broke from so much use. I replaced it with this one. So far I am very happy with this model. For the following reasons... 1. It did not cost a lot of money. 2. Gets the job done without a struggle, the handle and rubber base helps keep this grater stable while you are using it. 3. Easy clean up... quick rinse under the faucet, and into the dishwasher. Very good value for the money spent. 4Cusinart CTG-00-BG Boxed Grater was a good thing to buyCusinart CTG-00-BG Boxed Grater was a good thing to buy. Stable, reliable, easy to use. It's a classical model. A nice rubber handle and bottom frame made it pleasant to use.5God box grater, love the rubber base and the sharp cutting edges.I used the wide slicer side of this last night to cut some baby Swiss cheese, and I was so impressed with how well it worked. I have an intense respect for sharp things, and it is sharp, so watch your knuckles, but it made the cutting a breeze, I barely had to put pressure on the cheese. I will say that the slices weren t beautiful, but hey, they were going on a sandwich, not a display. As gooey as cheeses are even right out of the fridge, I have no doubt this would make short work of much firmer veggie slices. The grater part works well, too, I used it for a carrot. It has a good rubber base which didn t slide around, and I appreciate that, it gives the control needed so you don t slice or grate anything that you don t mean to.5A good basic grater .. every home should have one.A good grater. Thick metal. Standard grater. Easy to use. Nothing fancy. Nothing to break. It works. Hold the grater by the handle and push the cheese or potatoes or zuchini or whatever you are grating across and then put in dishwasher to clean. Cuisinart is as good brand and a reliable one. This is something I think every kitchen should have.5rustedI have barely had this unit a month. I've washed it maybe 3 times and it is rusting on the bottom. The plastic covers the rust but it is still there. Not very good quality.1so it had to be sharp and strong enough to get the job done easily. Till now have been able to grate carrotsHave been using it for a week and no complaints so far!I mainly wanted a grater for hard vegetables, so it had to be sharp and strong enough to get the job done easily. Till now have been able to grate carrots, ginger, raw mango easily with little effort. The hand grip on the top and the rubber base at the bottom ensure that you can place it an angle of your convenience and it doesnt slip away!!5Works well but poorly designedThe grater works well. I have only used the soft cheese side so far but it does a good job of quickly shredding cheddar and similar cheeses.I have two issues with the design.First, there is a rubber frame around the base to keep the grater from sliding. Unfortunately cheese gets in between the rubber frame and the grater's body making it difficult to clean. The frame can be removed but this requires some force and is a bit risky since the grater's surfaces are covered in sharp edges. The second issue is the steel rod that goes around the base of the grater to make it rigid. It is carbon steel rather than stainless. It rusts.3Absolutely worth the little extra price compared to what I had before. Excellent grater. Sharp, heavy. Plastic on handle and bottom of grater so it doesn't slip. First one I've had that was actually sharp enough to grate things quickly and easily. Only had it a few weeks. Hope it stays sharp, have already used it more than I used my previous grater iin 10 years. 5My mom would have been envious of this Non slip box grater by Cuisinart I love this Cuisinart box grater and use it often in my household. It has 4 sides with a variety of grating and slicing options. I use the large hole grating side most often for cheese. The fine grater is perfect for grating potatoes and onions for Latkes aka potato pancakes. Using the fine grater side is a must if I want to do things the old fashioned way my mom did. I tried to cheat once and put the potatoes in my food processor. Big fail on taste and texture. The side with the open "slots" are for my scalloped potatoes. They come out perfectly and evenly thin for perfect baking. Some people might say, "It's only a box grater". Yes, but it is a Great Box Grater by Cuisinart and well worth it. It is much better than my mother's one that always slipped around the counter and made a big mess. This grater has a non slip base and I love the handle because the rubber makes it easy to grip securely without sliding and slipping around in my hand. I find it easy to clean and so far the grating surface of all those holes seems to remain nice and sharp. Make sure you clean the edges of the bottom rubber non slip pad so no food gets stuck in between. No big deal.I highly recommend this wonderful grater. 5Base is not stainless steel, and it rusts.Under the rubber base is a carbon (not stainless) steel support rod that rusts. This is not acceptable in a tool that should be 100% stainless I haven t even used it and it s rusted from the first wash.1Great tool for grating larger amounts of cheese I use this all the time when I am grating larger portions of cheese. I grate more of my own cheese since I learned that store bought grated cheese has some weird additives (wood shavings, basically to preserve). I like the rubber grip at the top, it s easy to stock in the dishwasher after, and does the job well. I have a smaller grater that I use for smaller amounts of cheese (parmesan on Italian food, for example), but you could use this for smaller amounts as well if you wish. 5I'm glad I got this graterI'm glad I got this grater, because it's a lot more comfortable to use than the grater of my childhood. The grater I had as a kid had a thin, floppy metal handle. It was painful to hold when you're grating 3 lbs of cabbage. This one has a fat chunky handle to hold onto, and it's comfortable to use as I grate mountains of potatoes (mmmmmmm ... potato mountains). The only trouble is that I wish that the blades were sharper. Much like my childhood grater, these are merely punched out sheets of metal. The "teeth" haven't been sharpened in any way, which means that you need to press down on the food harder. This in turn means that if you accidentally slip, you can hurt yourself badly. I wish I'd sprung for the Microplane brand graters, which have sharpened blades.3Metal Parts NOT 100% Stainless SteelAs a couple of other reviewers have stated, this grater has a rod around the bottom of the grater that is NOT stainless steel. The non-skid rubber leaked rusty black water when I took it out of the dishwasher. I took the rubber piece off and could see that the rod running through the bottom is already rusted! Saying that it is 100% stainless steel is very deceiving.1
