This strainer is perfect for draining medium-large size pots when you don't want to have to wash a standard strainer. It's ideal for draining noodles that you're just going to put back in the pot anyway (mac n' cheese, spaghetti, etc.).The garlic peeler works like a dream, and the silicone brush is a handy tool for applying sauces and butter. All of it is dishwasher-safe, too!
5It s actually pretty cool, and peels got much faster then heading ...
I was a bit skeptical at first, but it really does work. It does feel cheap due to the material, but it will not melt on a hot pot or pan and fits a large pan and I mean large with no problems. I used mine 2x for draining all the grease in hamburger meat 2.5 lbs. The garlic peeler, I honestly thought we re going to be a joke. It s actually pretty cool, and peels got much faster then heading of a knife and removing the skin. The basting brush is ok, you can get better as it feels super cheap. It s an extra so can t complain.
5Junk
Don't buy it. I bought it because of the color for my daughter's kitchen. The brand named strainer is lime green and not her favorite color. I own that product and it's great. This one is very cheaply made and the clips are so narrow that they do not go on any pot I own. Therefore it doesn't work at all.Very disappointed.
1Great purchase
I actually just bought this for the strainer. It has been awesome and so easy to use. It's super easy to clean and so much better than transfering everything to a bowl strainer, then back into the pot. Bonus, I can take the clips apart and clean them also instead of funky junk getting in the grooves and being impossible to remove. I don't think it was intended to be cleaned that way as it does take a minute to put the clips back into place. But over all I'm super happy with my purchase. ... I have no idea what I'm going to do with the basting brush and garlic peeler though hahaha
5Drain the fat
What a great idea. If you like taco salad but when you cook the ground beef or turkey, no matter what the fat content, you always have excess fat that needs to be drained. Using the lid was the norm but usually was messy and still left some of the grease in the meat. This device works perfectly. Fits nicely on a medium to large pan.
5I truly love this thing
I truly love this thing. Great for straining out fat from cooking ground meat without losing any pieces. Gets SO much more fat out than other strainers I've used. Breeze to snap on and off and clean. I wish I bought this sooner. The only thing is, it's awkward to store, especially if you have narrow or small drawers. I haven't quite figured out a way that works for my kitchen yet but I'll make it work.
5super product for my home!!
I have only used the strainer and the little brush, but have had this over a month, wanted to use it regularly before writing a review, this is really great if you are living in an apartment maybe even a dorm, this has replaced many of my stainers its so simple to drain things right after you cook, I have only washed it by hand but it seems pretty sturdy. so far its fit on many of my pots I've used and haven't had any problems with it slipping off the pots or not fitting, this product is very useful for me in a busy household with young children as I can just leave it in a drawer when im done cooking grab it, my oldest can even help out and use it. would buy another when needed, will give a few of these for my other mom friends as a gift
4Someone is a genius!
Someone is a genius! So much easier to drain pasta and other items. Love the item. Arrived promptly and works wonderfully. Will be buying more for family members! Thank you! Also like the little brush. Have used it several times. The garlic peeler has a strong rubbery/plastic smell. Hoping that improves with washing. Was a nice little bonus, either way.
5I like the idea of this and it does work
I like the idea of this and it does work. I didn't read the comments in the questions area carefully enough -- I have pots with rolled edges. The clips do not want to go over rolled edges. I can, by working with it, get them to go over my edges, but if you have arthritis, it would be a problem. I am concerned that forcing it over the edge will cause the clips to break sooner than they otherwise might, but at $10.00, I can buy a new one. Maybe they could redesign the clips to have a bit more width, making them more accessible to those of us whose cookware has rolled edges. (I have an induction stove, so a lot of cookware doesn't work with it, or I would just consider buying a new pot with an non-rolled edge).
4It's okay but don't throw out your colander.....
I got to try this last week when I browned hamburger - tried to drain grease from the pan but was disappointed that they didn't make it so you could use it on more than just thin sided cookware. It would not fit on my cast iron skillet. It will not fit on my aluminum cookware but it will fit on my teflon coated skillets and Revere ware (yes, they are over 40 years old and still going strong). I tried it again on pasta the next night and it worked fine - providing you don't have a lot of pasta in the pan - can't completely drain it (I'm not throwing my colander away). I think with a little more tinkering such as adjusting the side clips to expand so you can use it on heavier cookware and perhaps adding another inch to the shield might help. (the pan picture above must be a small pan because mine does not cover half the pan. On the plus side, because it is silicone, it didn't melt....
