Customer Reviews

lightweight, easy to use, Great product!I have a stand up paddleboard. It's a GRECO, only 28 lbs, but over 12' long and difficult to transport. We had to put towels between the straps and the board, so the board would not get damaged. Not the fault of the belts. My board is made out of the stuff they make "boogie boards" with. My board stayed securely fastened going 60 miles an hour on the highway. Haven't been able to use my board for 2 years. Getting rid of the inflatable 5Fail! Buckles doesn t keep tensionI bought these to secure a bike cover to my bike while it was on my bike carrier. I used 4 straps to be safe. I didn t want the cover to blow off. I stopped at a rest stop to check the straps and good thing I did, all four straps had loosened. The buckles did not keep the straps taught. I reverted back to my bungee cords. I figured these straps would work better, but they did not. Very cheaply made. 1Great deal for a set of reasonably heavy-duty lashing straps. This set of 6 straps should take care of most of your car rooftop lashing needs. We use these straps for lashing down kayaks and they work really well. The cam buckle is smooth and grabs and holds the strap well. The straps themselves are fairly heavy, compared to some thinner straps I purchased not long ago at Harbor Freight. I don't think that you can do any better in getting a nice set of straps for such an inexpensive price. 5Major Disappointment: Avoid this productI hate to criticize a small business that is trying to provide a good product at a great price, but I have to alert other consumers that this particular product is not worth what you pay for it. Basically, the teeth on the clip where you tighten the strap are too sharp. The result of this is that when you tighten the strap down to secure the load, you can barely get it off, after using a screwdriver to pry the teeth out of the nylon strap. You can see in the first photo how the teeth damage the nylon strap. I had to cut 2 of the straps off of 2 pieces of furniture because they would not loosen. Photo 2 is where I had to tie the cut pieces together to reuse the strap. Photo 3 is the cut strap. After the move, I took the remaining straps and filed the teeth down with my Dremel. Photo 4 is the teeth, before I filed them down. 1Great weight and strength. READ UPDATE!!I have had lots of experience over the years with tie down straps. I usually buy ratchet type but wanted a less complicated setup to hold a 60# trolling motor battery in a canoe. I'll use 2 so strength will not be an issue. The straps on these are a decent thickness, not that blowing in the wind, getting tangled up lightweight straps you get at the big cheapo tool outlet. The cam itself is heavyweight and has extremely aggressive teeth to grip the strap which I like. Most cams systems have smooth ridges that tend to slip with vibration and use. The cam teeth will definitely hold and might damage the strap in the long run if used in the same position hundreds of times. But so what? My priority is function and at this price you can afford to go through a few straps. Great Value and Function!UPDATE 10/10/2019: I still like this item but have a strong suggestion before using. I praised the holding power of the strap but maybe it's a little TOO good. After several uses I have found the very aggressive teeth on the cam buckle will frequently imbed in the strap and make it impossible to loosen without snagging the strap. Simple solution: hold the cam lock all the way open so all the teeth show, gently run a metal file across the teeth to take the sharp points off the teeth. Files easily as the buckle is pot metal. This will give you a buckle that will hold aggressively but release easily. Again, this is a great buckle strap and a great value, I like it even more now with slight modification. 5Works great for securing recumbent trike on roof.I use these straps (in conjunction with triangular foam blocks from another kit) to lock down my recumbent trike on the roof of my van. I just loop them around the factory roof rack rails and up through the trike. I much prefer these kinds of straps over the ratcheting kind with hooks at the end, as fishing straps with hook ends through bike wheels with spokes can be quite irritating. These are quick to sift through, lock down, and tie off the extra length off to the side. They stay locked in place and from what I've seen don't loosen when traveling. No complaints. Easy to use and quick to lock in place. 5Terrible quality and barely usable even before they tear/break.I bought these for moving, so I could wrap some items together and wish I hadn't spent the money. Unfortunately, it's roughly the same cost to return as to keep them.Point 1: The straps are horrible quality. I bought a set of the lime green lashing straps from the same brand, and they have been fantastic. For whatever reason, these blue ones have a much looser and cheaper weave pattern, which catches on rough edges very easily. The strap material itself was so weak that the straps started tearing with <50 lb load, nowhere even close to the 200lbs for which they are rated.Point 2: The buckles are worse than the straps. The spikes in the buckle, which are used to grip the strap as it goes through the buckle, are pointed enough to actually sink into the strap. This means that you cannot release the buckle under any amount of load. You have to first relieve the load off the strap and pull the strap further through the buckle, so that the strap can slide off the ends of the spikes. Also, the spike poking through the strap caused significant damage to the strap, even under light load. The green straps were fantastic when I bought them two years ago and have held up incredibly well, but these are not even close to the same quality. Very disappointed with this purchase and I wish I had bought another set of the green straps. 1Cam slippage? These straps are a good value, but they have limitations. The black dye is not colorfast. The first time I used the straps in the rain, some of the color bled onto my orange raft, leaving black marks. My biggest concern is with the cam mechanism. On several occasions, the straps loosened 6-8 inches when I was driving at highway speed with the raft on the roof rack. That was when I was using two straps to lash the raft down. Now I use four straps and, so far, I haven't had problems. 3Satisfied, satisfied, satisfied!I have used these a total of four times now and could not be more satisfied with the quality of this product. The only thing I found while using these was the black color from the fabric of the straps turned my fingers black the first two times of using them. Not a big deal for me overall. The canvas carrying bag for all six straps is uber convenient and of very nice quality also. It didn't really occur to me how nice it was until I stowed away the straps! 5The perfect solution.I got really tired trying to keep my boat cover tight enough to prevent pooling. I was using straps with the plastic clips that pull apart when you try to tighten them. When I saw these, for the price, I had to buy them. They are the perfect solution. They tighten easily and don't slip. Releasing them is very easy though. They were longer than I needed, but cut easily with scissors. I heated (melted) the cut ends with a candle flame, and they will never unravel. My boat cover doesn't sag any more. I love these things! 5
